Old Buckenham Round 1

On Saturday 14th April we saw the opening round, of the British Air Racing Championship, the Bev Snook Memorial Race at Old Buckingham in Norfolk. A new venue for our organisation and a rare visit to East Anglia in recent years.

Weather earlier in the week had threatened racing over the weekend, but as it turned out we enjoyed sunshine with a strong northerly wind.

Last weekend saw the 3R's racing at Sywell. (Round 5)

Last weekend saw the 3R's racing at Sywell. The Northamptonshire aerodrome regularly hosts an air racing event and this year the prestigious Kings Cup was held at the popular venue.

Entry to the Kings Cup race requires qualification during the season, together with successful completion of Saturdays Stewards Cup. This practice gave us twelve pilots who qualified, together with one other to swell the entry. Entries this year have been disappointingly low but we enjoyed a season high with a total of 13 aircraft taking part.

Amazing Alderney (Round 7)

The disappointment of losing the entire Schneider Race weekend due to inclement weather was forgotten last weekend.

The Alderney race venue is probably the most popular on the air racing calendar and this year was no exception. A total of 13 pilots entered for the races, not a record but nevertheless the highest entry this season.
